Ballinrobe town is surrounded by many areas of historic interest and beautiful scenic countryside. There are restaurants, pubs, river walkways and a small-town friendly atmosphere that will appeal to a wide variety of tastes.

The town is close to Lough Carra, Lough Mask and Lough Corrib, famous for fishing and boat trips.

Ballinrobe boasts a famous Racecourse where a number of race meetings take place annually, during summer months. There is a championship Golf Course within 3km of the cottage.

It is just a short car journey to the village of Cong where the 'Quiet Man' film was shot - location also of the famed Ashford Castle.
